It all begins with an idea. I had one, I just didn’t know what to do with it.
At one point, I didn’t even think I’d publish a book. That it was just a hobby I was chasing, but wasn’t taking it serious enough.
You see, when you’re writing it’s scary. The thoughts are constantly in your head if your book is good enough to be out there with others or if it’s going to tank as soon as you hit publish. Umm, hello? That’s scary. I don’t know about you, but that freaks me out. Was my book long enough? Did the story flow well? Would the cover catch their attention?
But one day, something changed and I wish I could put my finger on it but I can’t. Maybe it was seeing my friends publish their books and taking that jump that they were once afraid of too.
I know, I know… “If they told you to jump off a bridge, would you?”
Knowing me, probably so. See I’m fearless in other areas of my life.
Parasailing? Sure, why not.
Cage Diving with Great White Sharks? Um, yes please!
Jumping out of a plane? Sign me up.
Publishing my own book? Whoa, whoa now.
But let me just say, pressing that publish button was one of the most exhilarating moments of my life. It was the moment that all of my work, my tears, my struggles had pushed me to. All at the click of a button.
Now, people had read my work. My mother was the first person to buy my book.
Something about someone that wasn’t family, that I didn’t truly know buying my book and leaving feedback. That’s terrifying.
But guess what happened? People bought that little book. That cover caught their attention. That storyline flowed nicely and the characters were swoon worthy.
So what’s the point? The point is, take the jump. Fight for your dreams, if you aren’t who is?
Do what makes you happy.
Write the damn book.
